Professor L. L. Tovazhnyanskyy is a well-known specialist in the field of chemical technology, who has been conducting successful research into heterogeneous-catalytic processes, chemical reactors and ecology for many years. He has developed the theoretical foundations of kinetics, heat and mass exchange in chemical catalytic processes and also worked out the theoretical basis of modeling, calculations and designing chemical reactors and plate heat exchangers for hydrogen production, ammonia synthesis, methanol, concentrated and nonconcentrated soda ash and mineral fertilizers.
Professor L. L. Tovazhnyanskyy heads a scientific school on the theoretical foundations of chemical technology, which deals with optimal integration of chemical and technological systems to increase their energy efficiency and ecological safety in chemical, petrochemical, food and other industries.
The results of L. L. Tovazhnyanskyy's scientific research are the basis for the development of numerous physical and chemical fundamentals of technologies, including technologies for industrial waste disposal and environmental protection.
Under his leadership the fundamentals of new chemical technologies and modern designs of chemical reactors, high-efficiency heat exchange apparatus have been created. They have become the basis for the creation of large-scale industrial production of bound nitrogen technology.
Scientific developments have been implemented at enterprises in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, etc.
L. L. Tovazhnyanskyy is the author of 609 scientific publications (73 for the last 4 years), among which 20 monographs and 25 inventions. Under his guidance 8 Doctors of Science and 20 Candidates of Sciences were prepared.
