Anna Vladimirovna Karakurkchi is Head of the Training Division of the Military Institute of Tank Troops of National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute», Candidate of Technical Sciences (Ph.D.), Lieutenant Colonel.
Born on June 28, 1982 in Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region. While still at school Anna was keen on chemistry and military affairs, despite the fact that there were never any military men in her family she wished to become a member of the Armed Forces.
After finishing school in 1999. G.V. Karakurkchi entered Kharkiv Military University, the Faculty of Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Protection and Environmental Safety. In 2003, Kharkiv Military University was liquidated, so Anna had to finish her studies at the Kharkiv Institute of Tank Troops named after Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which was a part of National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute».
G. V. Karakurkchi graduated from the institute with a gold medal, and received a specialty of a tactical-level officer, majoring in radiation, chemical, biological protection and environmental safety of troops. She was remained by the university administration to work at the institute as an analytical chemistry teacher. Subsequently, Anna was transferred to a research laboratory (armament of radiation, chemical, biological protection), in which she passed the way from Junior Research Assistant to Head of Laboratory.
In 2015 she defended Ph.D. thesis «Elektrokhimichne formuvannia funktsionalnykh pokryttiv splavamy zaliza z molibdenom i volframom» [Electrochemical formation of functional coatings by alloys of iron with molybdenum and tungsten] under the supervision of Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Ved M. V., and received the scientific degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences.
At present G.V. Karakurkchi has been working on a doctoral thesis under the supervision of Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Sakhnenko M. D.
In 2017 G. V. Karakurkchi became the winner of the regional contest «Higher School of Kharkov Region — Best Names» in the nomination «For Service to the Ukrainian People».
In 2018 she became a diploma winner of the All-Army competition «Best Invention of the Year — 2018» in the nomination «Automotive Engineering».
Since February 2018 Lt. Col. G. V. Karakurkchi has been heading the Training Division of the Military Institute of Tank Troops of National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute».
The subject of scientific studies of G.V. Karakurkchi relates to the following issues:
- operating capability recovery of machines and mechanisms including armored vehicles and military equipment, by means of using new structural materials with enhanced physical and mechanical properties;
- galvanic-chemical restoration of worn surfaces due to coating with hard chrome, iron, nickel, copper, zinc, and etc.
- increasing fuel efficiency and environmental safety of internal combustion engines (ICE) using catalytic materials; systems for elimination of gaseous emissions; synthesis of oxide and modified electrode materials, and etc.
G. V. Karakurkchi is the author of more than 130 scientific publications, including 2 monographs and 18 patents for inventions.
