Bairachnyi Borys Ivanovych

 
Bairachnyi Borys Ivanovych is Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Engineering Electrochemistry of NTU «KhPI», Academician of the Academy of Higher Education of Ukraine.
Born on September 18, 1935 in Zamiske village of Valky District, Kharkiv Region.
From 1954 to 1959 studied at V. I. Lenin Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute (nowadays — National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute»).
After graduating with honors, Borys Ivanovych worked as an engineer at the Department of Technology of Electrochemical Production at KhPI (19591961). From 1961 to 1965 — an engineer at the Physical-Technical Institute of Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. From 1965 to the present, B. I. Bairachnyi has been working at Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute.
During that time, he took various positions: Assistant and Senior Lecturer (19661971); Associate Professor (19711983); Head of the Department of Engineering Electrochemistry (1983–2013). In 1985–1991 was Dean of the faculty of Technology of Inorganic Substances.
From 1963 to 1967 B. I. Bairachnyi studied at the correspondence post-graduate course of the KhPI and in 1968 he defended Ph.D. thesis. In 1985, he successfully defended his doctoral thesis «Anodnye protsessy na alyuminii, niobii, titane i tantale » [Anode processes on aluminum, niobium, titanium and tantalum].
In 1993 Professor B.I. Bairachnyi was elected to the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Ukraine. And in 2008 he was awarded the Yaroslav the Wise Award for outstanding achievement in the field science and technology.
B. I. Bairachnyi is a well-known specialist in the mechanism and kinetics of anode processes on tantalum, niobium, titanium; electrosynthesis of oxide systems that have catalytic, semiconductor and dielectric properties; theory of hydroelectrometallurgical processes in industrial ecology, in electrochemical industries.
