The Constitution Day of Ukraine is a national holiday marked annually on June 28 in honor of the adoption of the Constitution of Ukraine. This is the only state holiday enshrined in the Constitution itself: «Article 161. The day of the Constitution of Ukraine adoption is a state holiday — the Day of the Constitution of Ukraine».

In June 1996, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada adopted the Constitution of Ukraine. It happened five years after the country proclaimed independence. The adoption of the Constitution established the legal fundamentals of independent Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity, became an important step in ensuring human and citizen rights, and contributed to the further increase of Ukraine's international authority on the world stage.
