The training manual deals with macro- and microbiogenic elements and their most important compounds; the chemical composition and the chemical properties of carbohydrates and hetero-organic compounds; the main bioorganic substances — carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, nucleotides and nucleic acids, enzymes and vitamins. Typical biochemical reactions between bioorganic substances above mentioned as well as their biological functions are considered. A set of laboratory works is aimed at determining the qualitative and the quantitative composition of biological compounds using contemporary physical and chemical methods.
