Pidhorna Lidiia Pylypivna is Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Deputy Head of the Department of Plastics and Biologically Active Polymers Technology of National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute».

In 1976, she graduated from the Department of Plastics Technology of Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute (now — National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute»), by the specialty: «Chemical Technology of Plastics». In 1983, she defended her PhD thesis at the Leningrad Chemical and Technical Institute (now — St. Petersburg State Technological Institute (Technical University) on the topic: «Radiatsiino-khimichne zatverdnennia akrylovykh polimeriv» [Radiation-chemical curing of acrylic polymers] under the supervision of Associate Professor Kuznietsova V. M.

Lidiia Pylypivna 's working career is closely connected with the Department of Plastics and Biologically Active Polymers Technology of National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute». Over the years of her work at the department she held various positions: junior researcher, senior researcher, associate professor.

Research Areas: Investigation of polymer composite materials and polymers for medical and biological purposes.

Associate Professor Pidhorna Lidiia Pylypivna together with the department staff (Associate Professors O. M. Blyzniuk, H. M. Cherkashyna, Assistant O. V. Hryhorenko) and in a close cooperation with a number of medical institutions of the city of Kharkiv (Institute of Dermatology and Venereology of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Mechnicov Institute of Vaccines and Serums, Ukrainian Research Institute of Prosthetics, Center for Vascular Surgery) investigated test systems for express diagnostics of various diseases, delivery systems for vascular surgery, the latest materials for biodegradable polymer prosthetics and others.

Pidhorna Lidiia Pylypivna is the author of more than 150 scientific publications, including 6 author's certificates for inventions and patents in co-authorship with the lecturers of the department, has developed 15 methodological aids and 1 training manual with the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine — «Teoriia ta metody doslidzhennia i vyprobuvannia plastmas, kleiv i hermetykiv» [The theory and methods of investigation and testing of plastics, adhesives and sealants].
