Ved Maryna Vitalyivna (1961–2021) was Professor of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry of National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute», Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, leading scientist and specialist in the field of chemical technologies and modern materials science.
Born on May 9, 1961 in Kharkiv. In 1978, at the end of her schooling she was awarded a gold medal (Secondary School No. 35, Tolyatti (Russia). In the same year, she entered the Faculty of Inorganic Substances Technology of Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute (now is National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute»), which she graduated with distinction in 1984, majoring in Electrochemical Production Technology.
All scientific activity of Ved M. V. was connected with National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute»:
1984–1989 — Engineer of the Department of Electrochemical Production Technology;
1989–1994 — Senior Researcher of the Department of Technical Electrochemistry;
1990 — candidate's dissertation defense;
1993 — academic title of Senior Researcher in the specialty «Electrochemistry»;
1994–2005 — Associate Professor of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry;
1997 — academic title of Associate Professor of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry;
2005–2008 — doctoral applicants of the Department of Technical Electrochemistry;
2008 — doctoral dissertation defense;
since 2009 — Professor of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry;
2010 — academic title of Professor of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry.
M. V. Ved worked in the scientific direction «Electrochemical design of the latest thin-film materials», under the supervision of Sakhnenko M. D., Doctor of Technical Sciences. She was well-known in the wide range of the scientific community of Ukraine and beyond for her fundamental work in the field of technical electrochemistry and chemical resistance of materials, the use of artificial intelligence tools for modeling and optimization of electrochemical technology systems.
Professor Ved M. V. successfully combined scientific, organizational and pedagogical activities. She taught chemical-technological disciplines, started teaching these disciplines in English, and published three English-language study guides for foreign students. As a research supervisor, she trained five candidates of sciences and two doctors of sciences.
In 2014, Ved M. V. was recognized as the winner of the regional competition «Higher School of the Kharkiv region — the Best Names» in the nomination «Best Teacher of Fundamental Disciplines». In 2016, as a visiting professor, she taught a course of lectures on nanomaterials science at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Almaty). Maryna Vitalyivna was a delegate of the working group on electrochemical engineering from Ukraine, which is a part of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering.
Professor Maryna Ved was a reviewer of recognized journals «Corrosion Science», «Surface and Coating Technology».
In 2018, she was awarded the Certificate of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Certificate of Honor of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration and badges for a significant personal contribution to the implementation of the tasks of modern state policy in the field of education, conscientious work, and a high level of professional skill. Maryna Vedh became the first woman scientist of the Kharkiv Polytechnic to be awarded the State Prize in the field of science and technology. She became a laureate of the Boris Paton National Prize of Ukraine in 2021 from NTU «KhPI» for the work «Electrochemistry of Functional Materials and Systems».
Authored 670 scientific and pedagogical publications, including: 8 monographs, 255 articles, 40 of them were included in the scientometric database Scopus (Web of Science), 82 patents and author's certificates, 56 methodical works, 1of them is a textbook (with the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine) and 9 training manuals (with the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine).
