Romanov Yurii Oleksandrovych is Associate Professor of the Department of Humanities of National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute», Candidate of Philological Sciences, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Education for methodical work.
Yu. O. Romanov was born on June 7, 1963 in Kharkiv. In 1990 he graduated from the History and Philology Faculty of the Peoples' Friendship University and was qualified as a philologist, a teacher of Russian as a Foreign Language, a translator from English into Russian (honours degree). In the same year began working at National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute». Teaches language disciplines to foreign students.
In 2003 he defended his candidate's thesis and obtained the scientific degree of Candidate of Philological Sciences. He is the author of more than 140 scientific papers, 35 of which are the educational and methodical ones (5 — with the seal of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine; 1 — with the seal of National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute»), as well as 3 dictionaries.
He has scientific publications in the leading professional journals of the SAC, as well as in publications indexed in the international scientometric databases Scopus, Web of Science. Develops distance learning courses for foreign citizens (the development of two courses was completed in 2016).
Romanov Yu. O. is one of the authors of the educational complex «Gute Reise!», created as part of a joint project of National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» and Humboldt University (Berlin). He repeatedly went to the University of Klagenfurt (Austria) to teach language disciplines during the work of the Summer Language School.
Research interests: teaching language disciplines, distance learning; interdisciplinary coordination; compiling dictionaries.
