Butenko Anatolii Mykolaiovych

Butenko Anatolii Mykolaiovych — Professor of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry of NTU «KhPI», Doctor of engineering.
Born 7 August, 1941.
In 1964 he graduated from Kharkiv State University (nowadays — V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University) and gained a diploma of a chemistry teacher.
After graduating from university he worked at Kharkiv Academy of Agriculture (nowadays — the Kharkiv Petro Vasylenko National Technical University of Agriculture) first as an assistant and then as a senior researcher (1966–1968). Since 1968 till 1970 he served in the ranks of the Soviet Army. After the service he worked as a senior researcher at the Research Institute.
Since 1972 Anatolii Mykolaiovych has been working at NTU «KhPI»: firstly as a senior engineer of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry of NTU «KhPI» (19721973), then as an assistant, Assistant Professor of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry of NTU «KhPI». In 20012015 Professor of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry at NTU «KhPI».
In 1973 A. M. Butenko became a postgraduate student of NTU «KhPI». In 1976 he defended his Ph.D. thesis on the topic «Selection and study of non-platinum catalysts for oxidation of ammonia to nitrogen monoxide». In 2012, Anatolii Mykolaiovych defended his doctorate thesis «Physico-Сhemical Bases and Technologies of Preparation and Regeneration of Nanosilver Catalysts for the Production of Formaldehyde» and obtained a doctoral degree in engineering.
 
Since 1972 till 2016 he published more than 400 scientific works. Among them, there were copyright certificates and patents, 3 monographs, 15 educational and 23 educational-methodical manuals, a textbook «Chemistry» for pupils of the 9th form of secondary school and 3 great modern reference books of natural sciences to prepare school leavers for external independent testing.
Professor A. Butenko has prepared five Candidates of Technical Sciences. For a long time he was a member of the editorial board of NTU «KhPI». He was also Deputy Head of the Department and Deputy Dean for educational and methodical work. Anatolii Mykolaiovych’s scientific research work is connected with developments and improvement of the technologies of various catalysts for introduction in the chemical industry and also connected with increasing their working lifespan and solving environmental problems.
