500th Anniversary of the Reformation

On March 23, 2017, the library hosted a theoretical seminar «Philosophical and cultural
codes of the Reformation».

The event was attended by scientists from higher educational institutions of Kharkiv: Olga Oleksiivna Dolska, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor of the Philosophy Department of the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute»; Oleksandr Semenovych Filonenko, PhD (Candidate of Philosophical Sciences), Associate Professor of the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University; Volodymyr Mykolajovych Sklyar, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of the History of Science and Technology of NTU «KhPI»; Nikolaievska Yuliia Viktorivna, PhD (Candidate of Art History), Associate Professor of the I. P. Kotlyarevsky Kharkiv National University of Arts; Maria Yuriivna Takhtaulova, PhD (Candidate of Historical Sciences), lecturer of the Political History Department of NTU «KhPI». In their reports, the seminar participants covered the question of influence of the Reformation on the formation of a new scientific worldview and on the education reform. The participants also deliberated on a matter of interrelations between Luther's ideas and the musical works of Johann Sebastian Bach. The question of influence of the Reformation on biblical theology and on the formation of the Lutheran community of Kharkiv in the 19th century and its contribution to the social and cultural development of the city was also covered. The musical compositions of J. S. Bach performed by Ihor Cherniavskyi, a violin player and a lecturer of the I. P. Kotlyarevsky Kharkiv National University of Arts, emphasized the academic atmosphere of the event. The presidency of the seminar was holded by Andrii Volodymyrovych Kipenskyi, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Dean of the Social and Humanitarian Technologies Faculty of NTU «KhPI».
