Shaporev Valerii Pavlovych (1943–2021) is Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Industrial Ecology of National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute».
In 1966 V. P. Shaporev graduated from Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute (now is National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute») majoring in machines and apparatus for chemical production and received the qualification of a mechanical engineer. After graduating from the institute, he worked for a long time at the State Scientific Research and Design Institute of Basic Chemistry (NIOKHIM), where he held a position from laboratory assistant to head of the laboratory.
In 1975 he defended his thesis on the topic «Razrabotka protsessa polucheniya aktivnoy okisi magniya» [Development of the process of obtaining active magnesium oxide] and obtained the scientific degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences, specialty 05.340 — «Technology of inorganic substances».
In 1995 he received the scientific degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences, specialty 05.17.01 — «Technology of inorganic substances». Dissertation topic: «Tekhnolohiia neorhanichnykh armuiuchykh napovniuvachiv» [Technology of inorganic reinforcing fillers].
From 1999 to 2021 V. P. Shaporev headed the Department of Chemical Engineering and Industrial Ecology of National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute».
The sphere of V. P. Shaporev’s scientific interests is the utilization of sodium metal production waste.
Professor V. P. Shaporev taught the following subjects:
- Theory and practice of experimental studies of eco- and technogenic systems;
- Environmental engineering, theory and design of environmentally safe advanced reactors and reactor systems;
- Processes and devices of environmental technologies.
V. P. Shaporev's scientific heritage includes more than 300 publications: scientific articles, author's certificates, guidelines, textbooks and training manuals. The textbooks with his participation frequently became winners in the competition for the best textbook and study guide with the stamp of the Academic Council of National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute».
