The manual examines the basics of production, processing and properties of the main types of polymers that are recommended for use in various fields of medicine: surgery and traumatology, ophthalmology, pharmacy, dentistry, etc.

The features of the interaction of polymers with living tissues of the body, methods of modifying and preparing the polymer surface for contact with living tissues, basic methods of manufacturing products from polymer and composite materials based on them for medicine are described.

The manual is addressed to students of the specialty 161 — «Chemical technologies and engineering», majoring in the educational programs 161.07 — «Chemical technology of synthetic and natural polymers and elastomers» and 161.06 — «Chemical technology of processing polymer and composite materials».
