Gamayun Ihor Petrovych is Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Software Engineering and Management Intelligent Technologies of National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute».

Born on April 28, 1950.

In 1973 I. P. Gamayun successfully graduated from the Faculty of Engineering and Physics of Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute (now is National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute») majoring in «Flight Dynamics and Control» and remained working at the institute.

His professional activity is closely connected with the Department of Automated Control Systems (now is the Department of Software Engineering and Management Intelligent Technologies). This is where Ihor Petrovych Gamayun advanced from Assistant to Professor.

I. P. Gamayun successfully combines teaching work with scientific- research activity — in 1983 he defended his candidate's dissertation on the topic «Razrabotka alhorytmov postroenyia kalendarnoho plana protsessov sozdanyia slozhnыkh tekhnycheskykh kompleksov» [Development of algorithms for constructing a calendar plan of the processes of creating complex technical complexes], and in 2005 — his doctoral dissertation on the topic « Modeli ta metody informatsiinoi tekhnolohii adaptyvnoho syntezu optymalnoi tekhnolohichnoi skhemy skladannia» [Models and methodologies of information technology of adaptive synthesis of the optimal assembly technological scheme].

The dissertation deals with the issues of using information technologies such as CALS (Continuous Acquisition and Life-Cycle Support) in the control of complex technological processes, industrial, military, space objects.

The basic principles of CALS envisage the implementation of continuous improvement of processes at the stages of the product life cycle - development, production, operation, modernization, disposal, which is associated with the need to improve the quality of system solutions that are prepared and adopted due to the functioning of appropriate automated systems.

The scientific heritage of the scientist includes more than 100 scientific, educational and methodological publications related to the structural optimization of system technical and technological objects.  Among them: 1 monograph, 2 training manuals, 4 publications in Scopus and Web of Science.
