Antonina Anatoliivna Badan Candidate of Philology Sciences, PhD (Germanic Languages), Professor, Head of the Deparment of Business Foreign Language and Translation of National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute». She is the Department founder. She has been leading the Department since 1999.
A. A. Badan was born in 1953.
In 1975 she graduated from the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Kharkiv State University (now — V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University). Apart from teaching she had been working as a guide-interpreter for many years. Thanks to this job position she had an opportunity to visit a lot of European and Asian countries.
Apart from teaching English, she worked as a guide-translator for many years. During this work, she visited many European and Asian countries.
In 1991 she finished her post-graduate study, specialty «Germanic languages» (10.02.04), and defended her PhD thesis.
In 1997 she participated in scientific exchange program – she worked at Eastern Michigan University (the USA) and undertook internship in the sphere of business communication.
She is the Department founder. She has been leading the Department since 1999.
She teaches courses: «Culture-through-Language Studies», «Practical Course of English», «Intercultural communication».
She has 84 scientific articles, including two textbooks with visas of Ministry of Education and Science.
Scientific interests: theory of language communication, intercultural communication, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, theory and practice of translation.
