The Magic of Winter Holidays!

On December 22, 2023, the brain-ring «Magic of Winter Holidays» took place. The event was attended by the teams of pupils from «Krysynskyi Lyceum No. 2» of Bogodukhiv District of Kharkiv Region and «Pokotylivskyi Lyceum N. 2» of Kharkiv District of Kharkiv Region.
Folk holidays, traditions, customs and religious faiths... All these are the spiritual treasures of the Ukrainian people. Indeed, in winter almost every day is a holiday: St. Nicholas Day, New Year's Day, Christmas, Generous Evening (Melanka folk holiday), St. Basil the Great, saint patron of agriculture (New Year's according to the old style), Epiphany or Vodokhreshcha, the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus Christ.
The questions prepared by Mykhailo Krasykov, Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Studies, Cultural Studies and History of Science of NTU «KhPI», leading methodologist of the Kharkiv Regional Organizing and Methodical Center of Culture and Art, a honorary member of the All-Ukrainian Union of Local Historians, were related to this fabulous time of the year.
The teams got to learn a lot of interesting things about the history of the Ukrainian people, customs and ceremonies. Because every holiday has its own national flavor and history!
