Day of Protection of Older Persons

On June 15, 2023, on the occasion of the Day of Protection of the Elderly, the Information and Resource Center «Without Barriers!» of the NTU «KhPI» Scientific and Technical Library and the Territorial Center for the Social Services Provision of the Sloboda District of Kharkiv held a joint   complex event within the «Bibliomix «We’re together!» project.

In the program:
  • presentation of the Information and Resource Center «Without Barriers» of  the NTU «KhPI» Scientific and Technical Library;
  • presentation of the book «Barrier-Free Handbook»;
  • psychological support group.

Libraries of educational institutions cannot stand aside from the events caused by military actions and for the sake of giving a helping hand to neighbors join their efforts. 
So, at the beginning of 2023, agreements were signed between NTU «KhPI» and institutions of general secondary education (Kharkiv city and Kharkiv region), libraries (Communal Institution «Public Library the Vysochan Village Council» of Kharkiv region, Centralized Library System of Sloboda District of Kharkiv) and the Territorial Center for the Social Services Provision of Sloboda District of Kharkiv.
It increases interaction and provides an opportunity to collaborate with those who need help.
As part of the concluded agreements, various events were held in online and offline formats. People of different age groups visited them with great interest. It was especially relevant for the elderly, who are looking forward to meeting at the next events. It gives them an opportunity to establish new contacts, gain new knowledge, overcome social isolation and, on this basis, strengthen their sense of self-worth, self-importance and appreciate the uniqueness of each person. Thus, through this work, the Scientific and Technical Library of NTU «KhPI» tries to become a center of attraction for everyone who needs support and help: participants in the educational and scientific process, residents of the city, forcibly displaced persons, and the elderly.
