Biblyk Valentyn Vasylovych. On the occasion of her 100th birthday.

Book exhibition “Outstanding Figures of Kharkiv. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Valentyn Vasylovych Biblyk (22.06.1926–06.06.2009), Director of the Kharkiv Tractor Plant (1969–1996)” was presented in June 2026 at the Scientific and Technical Library (Library, 3rd floor, Room 45).

Valentyn Vasylovych Biblyk (22.06.1926–06.06.2009) was a Ukrainian economic figure, Director of the Sergo Ordzhonikidze Kharkiv Tractor Plant (1969–1996), Hero of Socialist Labor (1981), Honored Machine Builder of the Ukrainian SSR, Ukrainian scientist in the field of tractor engineering, and an academician of the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Ukraine.

Valentyn Vasylovych was born on June 22, 1926, in Yenakiieve, Donetsk region. He moved to Kharkiv in 1932. He graduated from a factory seven-year school. From May 5, 1942, he worked at the Altai Tractor Plant as a timekeeper, rate setter, technologist, and senior technologist. He studied at the evening technical school and later at a school for working youth. At the same time, he taught drawing in a secondary school. From 1947, his life was inextricably linked with the Sergo Ordzhonikidze Kharkiv Tractor Plant (KhTZ). His remarkable engineering and organizational abilities helped Valentyn Vasylovych overcome a difficult path to the вершини of his industrial career. While working as a senior engineer-technologist, deputy shop manager, and head of the technological department, he directly participated in the development and production launch of the diesel engine and the popular DT-54 tractor. In 1953, he graduated from the All-Union Correspondence Polytechnic Institute and defended his Candidate of Sciences dissertation. From 1957, serving as Chief Technologist, and from 1962 — as Chief Engineer of the Kharkiv Tractor Plant, Valentyn Biblyk made significant contributions to mastering the more powerful T-74 tractor, creating specialized production of starting engines, fuel equipment, and hydraulic systems. From 1969 to 1973 — Director of the Sergo Ordzhonikidze Kharkiv Tractor Plant. From 1973 to 1996 — General Director of the Production Association “Sergo Ordzhonikidze Kharkiv Tractor Plant.”

For nearly 27 years, he headed the Kharkiv Tractor Plant. During these years, the plant underwent complete reconstruction and technical modernization: new industrial and service buildings were constructed, new automated lines were introduced, robotic complexes were implemented, and key services and engineering workplaces were computerized. A true breakthrough was the launch of serial production of the T-150 tractors, when for the first time in domestic tractor engineering, mass production of both crawler and wheeled tractors with a high degree of unification was organized at a single plant.  

For his outstanding labor achievements, he was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor (1981), honored with the Honorary Badge of the President of Ukraine, as well as numerous orders and medals.

In 1999, the Kharkiv City Council was among the first to award Valentyn Biblyk the honorary title “Honorary Citizen of the City of Kharkiv.”

After retirement, he served as the plant’s chief consultant.

On June 6, 2009, Anatolii Ivanovych passed away.
