Series «Customs and Rituals of Ukrainian Culture». Summer of Ukrainian Traditions
Primary tabs
Good day to you, boundless expanses,
To you — blue eyes of lakes.
And to you, dawn of the rising sun,
Wild wind — a good day to you!
My native land! Birchwood land!
Where else can such beauty be found?
If you wish, a song embroidered with sunlight
I will bring to your wide expanses.
June 9, 2026 at the Public Library of the Vysokyi Settlement Council, a thematic evening «Summer of Ukrainian Traditions» from the series «Customs and Rituals of Ukrainian Culture» was held for internally displaced persons.
Ukraine is a country with a rich cultural heritage, with unique customs and rituals.
Participants of the event learned about the significance of healing herbs and Kupala wreaths, folk omens, and rituals that our ancestors carefully passed down from generation to generation.
An informative presentation about summer holidays, folk customs, and rituals was prepared by Lidiia Bondarenko, Head of the Cultural and Educational Department of the Scientific and Technical Library of NTU «KhPI», and Natalia Liabakh, Head of the Information and Resource Center «Barrier-Free». The event was also joined by the coordinator of the charitable organization «Charitable Fund «Healing of Emotions», Svitlana Novosyolova.
A special festive atmosphere was created by creative performances of Halyna Volchenko, Head of the «Art-International Unity» Center of the Palace of Students of NTU «KhPI», laureate of international competitions, and Serhii Bykanov, Deputy Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Chemical Technologies and Engineering, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Integrated Technologies, Processes and Apparatuses.
Guests gladly listened to and performed Ukrainian folk songs together, which have long become beloved. Sincere emotions, lively communication, and shared creativity filled the meeting with special warmth and heartfelt atmosphere. Participants immersed themselves in the world of folk culture, learning more about customs, rituals, and symbolism of summer holidays – from Trinity to Ivan Kupala.
Ukrainian traditions do not simply embellish our lives – they shape our understanding of ourselves, our people, and our roots. Such events help preserve and promote national heritage, strengthen the connection between generations, and foster respect for Ukrainian culture, its traditions, and spiritual values!
