Talismans That Endure Through the Ages

May 21, 2026, on the occasion of Vyshyvanka Day, the NTU “KhPI” hosted the socio-cultural event “Talismans That Endure Through the Ages”. As part of the comprehensive program, a same-named flash mob, a concert of Ukrainian songs, and a thematic book exhibition “Talismans of the Ukrainian Soul” were organized.
For 20 years now, on the third Thursday of May, Ukraine celebrates Vyshyvanka Day — a holiday that unites Ukrainians around national traditions, culture, and spiritual values.
Today, the vyshyvanka is not just a traditional element of clothing. It is a symbol of resilience, cultural strength, national unity, and pride in Ukraine.
The event was organized by the Head of the Department of the Scientific and Technical Library of NTU “KhPI”, Lidiia Bondarenko. The participants were welcomed with an opening speech by the Director of the Library, Yuliia Hlavcheva.
The flash mob “Talismans That Endure Through the Ages” once again reminded everyone that the Ukrainian vyshyvanka is the spiritual code of the nation, uniting generations and preserving our historical memory.
A festive atmosphere for the faculty and staff of Kharkiv Polytechnic was created by: the Head of the “Art-International Unity” Center of the Student Palace of NTU “KhPI”, international competition laureate Halyna Volchenko; and Serhii Bykanov, Deputy Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Chemical Technologies and Engineering, Associate Professor of the Department of Integrated Technologies, Processes, and Apparatuses. They performed Ukrainian songs that became a true highlight of the event, filling it with warm emotions, a sense of unity, and inspiration.
Within the walls of the Scientific and Technical Library of NTU “KhPI”, we always strive to be keepers of the Ukrainian word, culture, and spirituality, supporting and promoting national values. The exhibition of the thematic book display “Talismans of the Ukrainian Soul” introduces visitors to the history of Ukrainian embroidery, folk traditions, cultural heritage, and spiritual values of the Ukrainian people.
