Bulavin Viktor Ivanovych — Head of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry of NTU «KhPI», Professor, Ph. D. (Candidate of Chemical Sciences).
Born on August 28, 1947 in the village of Bakatoiurde (Pivnichna Osetiia).
In 1971 he graduated from Kharkiv State University (now — the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University) and held a diploma in chemistry.
After graduation he worked as a senior engineer at the All-Union Scientific-Research and Design Institute for the Purification of Process Gases, Wastewater and the Use of Secondary Energy Resources for the Iron and Steel Industry (1971-1978), where he dealt with the air and water basins protection from industrial emissions of ferrous metallurgy enterprises.
In 1978 V. I. Bulavin became a graduate student of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry of the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
Since 1982 Viktor Ivanovych has been working at NTU «KhPI». At first he was an assistant of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry, then since 1988 — Associate Professor, Deputy Head of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry.
In 1986 V. I. Bulavin defended his thesis «Polythermal Study of the Electrical Conductivity and Dissociation of Alkali Metal Iodides in Higher Alcohols» and gained the degree of Candidate of Chemical Sciences (Ph.D.)
In 1988 he received the title of Associate Professor and in 1998 – Professor.
Since 1996 till now V.I. Bulavin has been holding a position of Head of the Department of General and Inorganic chemistry of NTU «KhPI».
In 2006 Viktor Ivanovych became one of the winners of the contest «Higher School of Kharkivshchyna: Best Names» and took the third place in the nomination «Best Head of the Department of NTU «KhPI».
Viktor Ivanovych is a specialist in physical chemistry of non-aqueous solutions of electrolytes. The main directions of his scientific interests are the research of the equilibrium and transport properties of electrolytes in non-aqueous solutions; development of processing industrial waste technology; the creation of new materials and the research their physical and chemical properties.
V. I. Bulavin is a member of the editorial board of the Bulletin of NTU «KhPI»; a member of the Academic Council of NTU «KhPI»; a member of the Academic Council of the Faculty of Technology of Inorganic Substances of NTU «KhPI».
The author of about 200 scientific publications and inventions. Teaches courses: «General Inorganic Chemistry», «Physics and Chemistry of Non-Aqueous Solutions of Electrolytes».
